This is the “social soundtrack” playing in the background while your guests socialize. The music choices are all about creating a sophisticated and warm atmosphere, while reflecting your personalities. 

How to plan for these sets:

  1. Choose a Foundation: Pick one or more of the primary vibes below to act as the baseline for your evening.

  2. Add Your Own Music: Use the “Vibes” questionnaire on BookLive to add specific artists or songs that are meaningful to you but might be too slow for the dance floor. You can even include your own playlist link!

Formalities

The formalities are the anchors of your reception—the sentimental moments and the transitions into the next phase of the celebration. These selections represent the most-requested tracks for each moment, designed to help if you’re feeling stuck or looking for a song that always works. 

The Golden Rule of Formalities: Your story always trumps the standard. If a song feels like “you”, it is the perfect song. Use our suggestions as a starting point, but never feel confined by them.

Choosing Your Last Song of the Night

In the final section of your Dancing Questionnaire, we ask you to define how you want to say goodbye to the night.

There are generally two ways to play it:

  • The Epic Singalong: High-energy anthems that get everyone in a circle, arms around each other, screaming the lyrics. (Think Mr. Brightside or Piano Man).

  • The Romantic Farewell: Slowing it down to let the dust settle, allowing you and your guests to soak in the moment one more time before the night ends.
