Cocktail Hour & Dinner
This is the “social soundtrack” playing in the background while your guests socialize. The music choices are all about creating a sophisticated and warm atmosphere, while reflecting your personalities.
How to plan for these sets:
Choose a Foundation: Pick one or more of the primary vibes below to act as the baseline for your evening.
Add Your Own Music: Use the “Vibes” questionnaire on BookLive to add specific artists or songs that are meaningful to you but might be too slow for the dance floor. You can even include your own playlist link!

Formalities
The formalities are the anchors of your reception—the sentimental moments and the transitions into the next phase of the celebration. These selections represent the most-requested tracks for each moment, designed to help if you’re feeling stuck or looking for a song that always works.
The Golden Rule of Formalities: Your story always trumps the standard. If a song feels like “you”, it is the perfect song. Use our suggestions as a starting point, but never feel confined by them.

Dancing
To help us craft the perfect soundtrack for your celebration, we’ve curated a series of Genre Preview Playlists. Each one features 10 “essential” tracks that define the energy of that specific style.
How to use these samples:
- As you listen, head over to your BookLive “Dancing” Questionnaire and mark each genre as LOVE, LIKE, or DISLIKE.
- Don’t overthink the specific songs! These are just a “taste” to help you decide if you enjoy the overall genre.

The Wedding Staples
Love ‘Em or Leave ‘Em?
These are the classic floor-fillers and line dances. We know everyone has a different relationship with these tracks, so we want to know exactly where you stand.
Use the “Wedding Staples” section of your questionnaire to give us the green light (or the red light) on each song:
- YES — Keep the tradition alive.
- NO — Strictly off-limits.
- ONLY IF REQUESTED — Let your guests decide.
Give the playlist a quick spin if you need a refresher!
The Grand Finale
Choosing Your Last Song of the Night
In the final section of your Dancing Questionnaire, we ask you to define how you want to say goodbye to the night.
There are generally two ways to play it:
The Epic Singalong: High-energy anthems that get everyone in a circle, arms around each other, screaming the lyrics. (Think Mr. Brightside or Piano Man).
The Romantic Farewell: Slowing it down to let the dust settle, allowing you and your guests to soak in the moment one more time before the night ends.
Listen to the “Finales” playlist right here for a few of our most-requested closing tracks. Once you’ve found the one, head over to the last page of your questionnaire to lock it in!
